Project: Thomson sought to expand its subscription offerings for Scientific, Technical and Medical (STM) data beyond its current offerings to corporations, government and academia. The project - create a scientifically focussed, enterprise-wide information umbrella, allowing cross searching and navigation of multiple data repositories, which allows for extension into external Web and/or internal customer specific information resources through a single, unified, user interface and navigation vehicle, without the development and intellectual work required to physically harmonize the different data sources.
Why LifeCycle: LifeCycle Software personnel have the depth of experience and technical expertise with portal development, content management and scientific information that allowed us to hit the ground running and design, implement and release the web content addition to the Current Awareness product, followed by the cross search of content in the ISI Web of Knowledge.
Highlights: An information retrieval prototype for the EU pharmaceutical market with industry-specific content, search and taxonomy components. The design, implementation, and deployment the ISI Web of Knowledge Portal product offerings providing Boolean, Natural Language Probabilistic, and federated search experiences. Designed and developed the Thomson Scientific eSearch (SM) product, the web content add on to the Current Awareness products, which provides editorially selected full papers to research and development (R and D) professionals. This product reversed a sales decline, increasing subscriptions.
